Mean Green Shut out Louisiana Tech
Second Set Comeback Propels North Texas To 3-0 Win
RUSTON, Louisiana -- North Texas shut out Louisiana Tech on the road Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
The Mean Green (8-11, 2-2 C-USA) received a team effort victory with 14 of their total kills being split up between five different players. Though despite the clean slate victory over Louisiana Tech (8-9, 0-3 C-USA), the win left head coach Andrew Palileo wanting more.
"I thought we played well enough to win, "Palileo said. "But as we move forward we need to execute enough plays when we are given the opportunities."
Sunday, after a back-and-forth 25-23 victory in the first set, North Texas needed to score 10 of the last 12 points in the second set to win the set 25-22.
Then in the third set, trailing 13-12, the Mean Green pulled ahead, scoring eight of the next 10 points and then beating the Bulldogs to a tone of 25-20.
Sunday's victory comes two days after a five set road loss to Texas San Antonio.
Over the past two matches, junior Amanda Chamberlain has led the way with 22 kills and a hit percentage of .511. She's averaged 2.75 kills per set.
Sophomore setter Karley York had 44 assists Friday against the Roadrunners. She finished Sunday with 29.
North Texas will end its three-match road trip Friday as they travel to UAB.
