NT Volleyball Beaten By Baylor In Straight Sets
#MGVB Steps Into Bear Trap, Returns Home For SFA This Wednesday
HOUSTON – Against its second Big 12 opponent of the season and third opponent in two days, the Mean Green volleyball team came out flat against regional rival Baylor and received its fourth sweep of the season.
“Losing is never easy, and this one was no different,” head coach Andrew Palileo said. “We were out of sync and against a quality opponent at that, but we will regroup and get ready for the start of conference play."
Despite a fast NT start, the Bears took control of the match midway through the first set and never relinquished the momentum.
The Mean Green threatened late in the third set, and, at one point, trailed by one. But it never could gain its footing offensively and fell back below .500 with the loss.
The match concluded NT's stay in Houston for the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup, a tournament that saw the Mean Green go 1-2.
Sophomore weapon Carnae Dillard made the Flo Hyman All-Tournament team, her second all-tournament honor of the season (North Texas Invitational).
Stat of the Day
After not playing until NT's 12th match of the season, junior transfer Chandler Hatton has started the last two contests for the Mean Green and has seen significant play time in the last four.
North Texas returns home after two weeks of road tournaments with a match against another Texas opponent, SFA, on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m.
