FORT WORTH, Texas - Battling a TCU home crowd and some regional TV exposure not to mention a Big 12 opponent, Mean Green volleyball (5-4) fought valiantly but never sustained its offensive rhythm in a loss to the Horned Frogs (4-3).

Stumbling out of the gate, the Mean Green had to claw its way back for the majority of the first set. The turning point came with NT down 13-8 when a Hanna Forst crack shot across the middle of the court seemingly sparked the Mean Green. But the two Texas units would remain neck and neck until TCU would close it out, 25-21.

The energy in the house of the frogs only increased as the second set began. The score remained tight throughout as the teams traded kills. With the score 20-18, TCU won five of the last seven to take the second frame.

In a do or die third set, NT lost momentum at the halfway point and was unable to recover and force a fourth.

Sophomore Carnae Dillard led the Mean Green in kills with nine, and she added 11 digs.

Freshman Amy Henard put up 28 assists, and senior Courtney Windham had four blocks, three assisted and one solo.

Mean Green volleyball gets a quick turnaround as it begins the Boise State tournament on Friday, Sept. 13, against Sacramento State at 11 a.m.
