Defense Dominates In Sweep Of Prairie View

DENTON, Texas - One of the nation's best defensive units flexed its muscles on Wednesday. The North Texas volleyball team held Prairie View A&M to -.034 hitting in a 3-0 sweep to reach 10 wins faster than any team in NT history (25-13, 25-12, 25-12).

The Mean Green (10-4) entered the match ranked No. 22 in the nation in blocks per set, and sent back eight total blocks on the Panthers (2-10). NT held PVAM to a negative hitting percentage for the second time this season, after the Panther hit -.061 against North Texas in the season opener last month.

Libero Shelby Tamura posted her 12th double-digit dig outing of the year in leading all players with 12 digs on Wednesday. Karissa Flack led the Mean Green wall with six individual blocks.

The win gives head coach Ken Murczek 47 career victories, and he'll have four opportunities this weekend to become the fastest NT coach to ever reach the 50-win plateau. In his third year, Murczek has only coached 81 matches.
