Second-Set Comeback Keeps Hot Start Alive
Volleyball Moves to 8-2 After Oral Roberts Sweep
DENTON, Texas - North Texas opened the Mean Green Volleyball Classic with a sweep of Oral Roberts to keep the best start in school history rolling (25-18, 25-23, 25-21).
This 8-2 start tops the 2010 squad, which opened at 7-3, for the hottest 10-match start by a North Texas team, and keeps the Mean Green in contention for a third-straight tournament title. NT won its first home tournament, the North Texas Invitational, and last weekend's IUPUI Hampton Inn Invite.
Courtney Windham, who led the match with 10 kills on .556 hitting, helped stage a massive NT comeback effort in the second set. Down 19-12, the Mean Green outscored the Golden Eagles (4-5) 13-4 down the stretch to take the set. NT held ORU to .027 hitting in the set.
The Mean Green hit .214 as a team, which makes NT 5-0 in 2012 when reaching the "magic" attack percentage of .200.
North Texas returns to action on Friday night against Eastern Michigan (6-2) at 7:30 p.m.
