DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis completed its fall season Sunday afternoon at the Game On North Texas Classic with seven flight champions.
The Mean Green captured all but two matches again on Sunday to end the tournament with an astounding 26-4 record.
Seniors Paula Dinuta and Nadia Lee both captured their respective flight championships in singles, with perfect 3-0 records.
Joining Dinuta and Lee with championships was junior transfer Valentina Starkova and Ilona Serchenko, as well as Barbora Vykydalova and Franziska Sprinkmeyer, who shared the Flight 6 singles title.
After a tough three set match on Friday, Dinuta came back and dominated her final two opponents of the weeked, surrendering only five games Saturday and a mere three games Sunday in a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Northwestern State's Dana Sardak.
Starkova and Sprinkmeyer notched the only doubles flight championship in impressive fashion, with an 8-1 win over NCTC's Melissa Telfer and Jess Cossari. The duo lost only three games all weekend.
Sprinkmeyer was just as dominant in singles, taking out Cossari again in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 while Satrkova encountered a little more resistance in a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Andre Nedorostova of Northwestern State.
North Texas will return to the court on January 13, 2012, when it travels to Ft. Meyers, Fla., for the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational.
