DENTON, Texas (11/4/10) - North Texas tennis heads to its last fall tournament of the season, the HEB Baylor Invitational, which runs Friday morning through Sunday afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Six of the seven athletes will be competing with the likes of regional foes Baylor, Rice, TCU, Texas Tech and UTA, as well as national power Georgia.
"This is our last tournament for the fall season," said head coach Sujay Lama. "I'd like to see us finish on a high note and take some momentum with us for the spring season. We have three very good doubles teams and it would be nice to see them gel and play well together. In singles, I'd like to see us play an aggressive style of tennis that we have been preaching all fall. We have got to finish off the close games, sets and matches."
Junior Paula Dinuta is coming off of a strong finish at the Wilson/ITA Texas Regional Championship in which she rebounded from an opening round loss to capture the consolation championship over UTA's Daiana Negreanu in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5.
Overall, four of the seven singles players for the Mean Green have winning record this fall, with Dinuta having the best record at 10-4.
The doubles tandems have been equally as successful, with every duo that has been used registering a winning record, with junior Irina Paraschiv and sophomore Barbora Vykydalova leading the way at 6-2.
