NT Tennis Heads To Houston For Cougar Open
The North Texas tennis team travels to Houston to participate in the last fall tournament of the season this weekend. The two-day Cougar Fall Open will be held at the John E. Hoff courts on the campus
DENTON, Texas (11/1/12) - The North Texas tennis team travels to Houston to participate in the last fall tournament of the season this weekend. The three-day Cougar Fall Open featuring 13 teams from around the country will be held at the John E. Hoff courts on the campus of UH.
"This is our last opportunity to compete this fall and I 'd like to see us finish strong," head coach Sujay Lama said Thursday.
The Mean Green will compete against Houston, Iowa State, Rice, Denver, Arkansas, Texas State, TCU, Lamar, Idaho, Oregon and Auburn. The team will also face Liberty, which is coached by former North Texas associate head coach Jeff Maren.
The tournament will consists of flights of eight, where each player plays one doubles and one singles round each day, all three days.
North Texas will debut three new doubles pairs this tournament due to the absence of senior Valentina Starkova. The new duos include Barbora Vykydalova and Ilona Serchenko, Danè Joubert and Augustina Valenzula, and Emelia Box and Victoria Parshikova.
