Paula Dinuta Grabs Regional Consolation Championship

ARLINGTON, Texas (10/26/10) - North Texas Junior Paula Dinuta captured the ITA Texas Regional Consolation Championship from the UTA Tennis Center on Monday afternoon.

A day after going a perfect 6-0, 6-0 in two matches, Dinuta had to battle a little more in this one, taking down UTA's Daiana Negreanu in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5.

"Paula played near flawless tennis today in defeating an evenly matched opponent," said associate head coach Jeff Maren. "I am proud of how well she competed throughout the tournament, both physically and mentally.  This should give her a huge confidence boost going into the Baylor Invite in two weeks."

Dinuta won seven straight singles matches after dropping her first match to Texas Tech's Sandra Dynka on Friday morning.

Mean Green Tennis will return to the court Nov. 5 when it travels back to Waco, Texas for the Baylor Invitational. North Texas will open its dual match season January 21 in Fayetteville, Ark., when it faces off with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
