Dinuta Advances To Monday At ITA Regional

WACO, Texas - North Texas Tennis struggled at the ITA Texas Regional from the Baylor Tennis Center on Sunday, advancing only one athlete to the final day of competition Monday.

After advancing multiple players to Sunday's competition in the main bracket for the first time since Sujay Lama's arrival at North Texas the Mean Green couldn't overcome the wind and weather.

"Today was a disappointing day overall," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We were flat and lacked focus and intensity. We did not deal well with the wind as well the style match ups. Hopefully we can learn from this and do a better job when we play our next tournament in two weeks."

Junior Paula Dinuta, the only member of NT to advance to play Monday, won her two singles matches of the day, taking down Gabriella Vazquez in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 in the first before advancing to Monday by defeating Cristiana Danaila of Baylor 6-4, 2-1 (retire).

Dinuta will be facing off with Houston's Joanna Kacprzyk Monday morning at 11:30 from the Baylor Tennis Center.
