FT. WORTH, Texas - North Texas tennis ended its USTA/ITA Texas Regional on Saturday afternoon from the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU.
The Mean Green members playing in main draw matches fell to their seeded opponents.
"We ran into some formidable opponents today and could not close out matches the way we have this fall," said head coach Sujay Lama. "It's a bit disappointing not to have our players advance deep into the tournament but we will learn from it. This is a resilient group and highly motivated to have a special year."
Junior Valentina Starkova lost her only singles match of the day to No. 11 seed Noel Scott of Texas in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Freshman Kseniya Bardabush struggled for the first time of the year, falling to TCU's Simona Parajova 6-1, 6-0.
Starkova and Bardabush teamed up in doubles and lost a close match to Rice's No. 8 seed Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath 8-6 in a match that could have gone either way.
"Keseniya and Val ran into a good team. Bara and Ilona played well and lost a close one. Nadia and Franziska won consolation doubles and Paula lost in 3 too."
The Mean Green will return to the court for the North Texas Classic Nov. 4-5 at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
