DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis begins play at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Friday from the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU.
The Mean Green is looking to continue to build off of its early season success, assembling a 54-20 overall record in the two tournaments so far this fall.
"The goal is to continue improving and using the momentum and confidence we've gained from the first two tournaments," said head coach Sujay Lama. "There is that extra incentive competing for a berth for National indoors in New York if you are one of the last two left in the draw. We'll see where we stack up with the rest of the region. It's important to capitalize on our opportunities and have success."
Freshman Kseniya Bardabush has been the most impressive in the early season, registering a 7-1 overall record in singles and a 5-2 mark in doubles.
The regional champion in both singles and doubles automatically qualifies for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., November 3-6.
