DENTON, Texas - North Texas Tennis will be back on the court for the first time since its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history Friday morning at the Waranch Tennis Complex for the Mean Green Invitational .
This individual style tournament will feature players from two other NCAA Tournament teams in SMU and Northwestern State with athletes from Stephen F. Austin, Tyler Junior College, Sam Houston State and UTSA rounding out the field.
"We start a long journey this week with our first event of the season," said head coach Sujay Lama. "It's exciting and there is much to look forward to this year. Our goals are to enjoy the process, push ourselves and improve each day. We have had incredible practices the last two weeks and we hope to transfer that to match play. It should be three great days of tennis at the Waranch Tennis Complex."
The Mean Green returns six student-athletes its top four singles players while adding a two-time JUCO All-American in Nadia Lee and a fierce freshman in Carolina Barboza.
