DENTON - The North Texas tennis program received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic Team award for the ninth consecutive year, the organization announced this week.

In addition, Mean Green athletes Agustina Valenzuela, Anastasiya Shestakova, Franziska Sprinkmeyer, Kamilla Galieva and Kseniya Bardabush took ITA Scholar Athlete honors by earning a varsity letter with a grade point average of at least 3.50 in the 2014-15 season.

“Once again the women of the North Texas tennis team are the leaders of academic success,” said assistant director of student services David Bekker, who oversees academic advising for the team. “This special group consistently performs at the highest level of excellence in academic achievement.”

The latest announcement caps off what has been an award-winning career for Sprinkmeyer. Earlier this month, she earned the Conference USA Scholar Athlete award for tennis, and this season marked the fourth year that she was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. Teammates Bardabush and Valenzuela join Sprinkmeyer as repeat members on the 2015 list.

To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award, programs must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above. The Mean Green ended the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.63.
