DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis head coach Sujay Lama announced the hiring of Wade Zimmerman as the program's assistant coach on Thursday morning.
Zimmerman comes to North Texas with over 10 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, club and secondary levels. His most recent stop had him at Lewisville High School as the head tennis coach and physical education instructor.
"I am excited to announce the hiring of Wade [Zimmerman] and want to welcome him to the Mean Green family," said Lama. "Wade is an up-and-coming coach with tremendous knowledge and passion for tennis matched with an outstanding work ethic. He understands the direction and vision of our tennis program and will be a huge asset in taking this team to the next level. Above all, he truly cares about the well-being of our student athletes and their success in the classroom and on the courts."
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and a Master's Degree in Physical Education from Sul Ross State, and a Doctoral Degree in Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with the North Texas Tennis program," Zimmerman said. "North Texas has a distinct tradition of academic and athletic excellence and I'm looking forward to help build upon the success of the Mean Green tennis program. Coach Lama and Coach Maren have done a great job in helping to shape North Texas tennis into one of the premier programs in both the Sun Belt Conference and across the nation."
Zimmerman is also certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA-P1), Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and as a Physical Fitness Specialist.
He and his wife, Katherine, live in Argyle with their two children, Jeremy and Wyatt.
