DENTON - The North Texas women’s tennis program received the All-Academic Team award for the eighth consecutive year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, announced this week.
“I'm deeply proud of our tennis team,” said assistant director of student services David Bekker. “Their dedication to academic achievement and performance is extraordinary.”
The Mean Green’s Agustina Valenzuela, Dane Joubert, Franziska Sprinkmeyer, Kamilla Galieva and Kseniya Bardabush earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for earning a varsity letter in 2014, and having a GPA of at least a 3.50.
Sprinkmeyer was honored as Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year earlier this week. The award was presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport, based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.
To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award a program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. The Mean Green closed out the 2014 season with a cumulative GPA of 3.55.
