DENTON, Texas - For a third-straight year, the North Texas women’s tennis team has accepted an invitation to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championships.
The tournament will take place Jan. 23-25, 2015 in College Station, Texas, hosted by the Texas A&M Aggies. The Mean Green will take on the Aggies the first day, while TCU will match up against Houston. The winners and losers then face off the second day.
“To be selected to play the ITA Kickoff event for the third straight year is a huge accomplishment for our tennis program,” said head coach Sujay Lama. “To be one of only 64 teams to be qualify for a national-championship event is great for our team and helps us beef up our schedule.”
The Mean Green ranked 66th in the nation, is led by senior captains Franziska Sprinkmeyer and Kseniya Bardabush, who were named Conference USA’s first-team all-conference doubles honorees concluding their junior year.
“To finish the season ranked nationally with a young team without any senior bodes well for us for the upcoming season,” Lama said.
