Lama Lands Two-Time JUCO All-American
DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis head coach Sujay Lama announced the signing of the No. 2 nationally ranked junior college player and two-time JUCO All-American Nadia Lee for the 2010-11 season Wednesday afternoon.
"We are very excited to have Nadia join us this fall," said Lama. "She will have an immediate impact both on and off the court for us. Her work ethic is impeccable and she brings tremendous experience and maturity to our team."
Lee comes in with a wide variety of athletic accomplishments and will join the Mean Green in the fall as a junior transfer from Lee College.
As a part of Lee College in the 2008-09 season, she won a JUCO Team National Championship, was named a JUCO All-American in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and was a part of the 2010 national runner-up team.
Individually, the junior transfer has been the 2008 and 2009 regional singles champion and small college finalist and is ranked in the Women's Tennis Association world rankings.
"Seeing the progress that the coaches, and other staff, had made with the tennis team gave me something to aspire to," said Lee. "After my visit, I left feeling a connection with North Texas and the people there, and felt that I would fit in comfortably. I am excited to become part of a team that is capable of winning their conference and going to the NCAA's again."
Lee graduated with honors with an Associate's Degree in Kinesiology-Natural Science from Lee College and will continue to explore the kinesiology field at North Texas.
