NT Tennis Signs Royer and Lee To National Letters Of Intent

DENTON - North Texas head women's tennis coach Dawna Prevette has signed Kelli Royer out of Eugene, Ore., and Hillsborough Community College transfer Krysta Lee to national letters of intent.

Royer, ranked No. 206 in the nation among all high school players, is the third high school player out of Oregon to join the Mean Green program over the last three recruiting classes. Currently a senior at Churchill High School, she has advanced to the state quarterfinals the last three years.

"Kelli is a power hitter from the baseline, but she's not scared to come in to the net and volley when it's needed," said Prevette. "I'm looking for her to solidify our singles lineup and to be an asset in doubles. Kelli has a great head on her shoulders and she is very determined."

Lee will join the North Texas program this spring after spending her freshman and sophomore seasons with Hillsborough CC in Tampa, Florida. She was the No. 6 ranked junior college player in the nation last year.

"Krysta will contribute immediately in singles and doubles," said Prevette. "She has experience playing top players and I expect her to strengthen the top of the singles lineup. Her attitude is always positive and she's eager to learn. She is a hard worker and she knows where she wants to go with her tennis."
