No. 44 Golden Panthers Provide Season's Toughest Test

MIAMI (3/20/08) The Mean Green tennis team circled today’s match against No. 44 Florida International as the measuring stick for the 2007-08 season.

With a month left in the season North Texas (7-6) already has more wins than in each of the last two seasons, and sees FIU as a preview of what the Mean Green tennis program can become. But NT will have its hands full if it wants to top the three-time defending Sun Belt champs

The Golden Panthers (6-6) bring a pair of ranked players to the table in No. 91 Liset Brito and No. 112 Egle Petravskaite, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week. The two combine to be the nation’s No. 22 ranked doubles team.

Don’t let FIU’s 6-6 record fool you. The Golden Panthers have already faced eight teams among the top 40 in the country, which includes wins over No. 38 Arizona and No. 34 Texas A&M. Every FIU loss this season has come at the hands of a ranked opponent.

The Mean Green and the Golden Panthers hit the court at 11 a.m CST.
