COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (3/08/08) The Mean Green tennis team couldn’t quite keep up with a fast paced Denver squad, falling to the No. 24 Pioneers, 7-0.
While the Pioneers (10-0) swept the Mean Green (6-6), the score didn’t indicate the level of competition in the Centennial State. Four of the six singles matches went into tiebreaker sets, and the Mean Green doubles team of Idalina Franca and Amy Joubert picked up a win for NT.
“As a team we played very well,” said assistant Jeff Maren. “We had a lot of energy and came out strong in terms of effort level. We came up short only in our technique and are excited about this upcoming week because we will have an opportunity to improve in that area.”
North Texas was previously undefeated in two Sun Belt Conference matches, knocking off Middle Tennessee and UALR before falling to DU on Saturday at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
The Mean Green returns to action on Friday, March 14th at home versus Southern Illinois. The match will begin at 3 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Pavilion.
