Tennis Looks To Upset No. 30 Tulsa

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green tennis is set to play host to the No. 30 Tulsa Hurricane Sunday morning the Waranch Tennis Complex.

North Texas (2-7) has dropped two matches in a row, and will be looking to get back on the right track, as the Hurricane (11-2) are attempting to continue its current six match winning streak.

"Tulsa is a very good team and well coached," said head coach Sujay Lama. 'Coach Orford is a very good friend of mine and he has done an outstanding job of developing a tremendous program."

Junior Irina Paraschiv has led the Mean Green of late; going 4-1 from both the No. 1 singles and doubles slots in three matches last week, including a perfect day against Utah State when North Texas downed the Aggies 6-1.

The last time the Hurricane and Mean Green met was last May in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  Then No. 64 North Texas fell to No. 32 Tulsa 4-2 in a tight match,

"We have had some great battles in the past with Tulsa and I expect much of the same this time around," Lama added. "We are getting healthier day-by-day and we are looking forward to seeing how much progress we have made since last weekend. It should a terrific match."

The match will begin at 11 a.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.  Admission is free to the public.
