DENTON, Texas - No. 61 North Texas Tennis travels to Tucson, Ariz., for a pair of weekend matches, taking on No. 33 Arizona and No. 50 Cal Poly.
The Mean Green (5-3, 1-0) is riding a three match win streak overall and has won its last two meetings against ranked teams with wins over No. 53 Kansas State and No. 44 TCU.
Week Five Notes
"We are looking forward to playing two very good teams this weekend," said associate head coach Jeff Maren. "We relish these types of challenges because it makes us a better team in the long run."
Freshman Kseniya Bardabush collected a 2-0 record last week from the No. 1 singles slot as she downed both TCU's No. 114 rated Olivia Smith and Louisiana-Lafayette's Sophie van den Aarssen in straight sets.
Irina Paraschiv, who returned from injury against Oral Roberts, has paced the Mean Green in the last five matches, notching a 5-1 record in singles to go along with her 5-3 record in doubles with Bardabush.
The Wildcats (3-2) are coming off of a 5-2 victory over then No. 53 San Diego State and feature the No. 64 singles player in the nation, Natasha Marks.
Cal Poly (4-2) has dropped two of its last three matches, including being upset by No. 64 UC Davis, 4-3, last weekend.
The Mean Green's match with No. 33 Arizona is slated for Friday, Feb. 17, at 2:30 p.m. PST while first serve for the match with Cal Poly is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. PST on Sunday, Feb. 19. Both matches will take place at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Arizona.
