Mean Green Tennis Shuts Out Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Tex. (2/7/04) The North Texas women’s tennis team (2-1) cruised to a 7-0 win over Texas State on Saturday in the first of four consecutive road matches for the Mean Green.

North Texas swept the doubles matches, winning all three by at least four points.  North Texas won five of the six singles matches in straight sets to secure its first shutout victory of the season.

North Texas duo Ashley Sammis and Kelli Royer won flight two to remain undefeated in doubles action at 3-0.  Megan Schmulbach/Ingrid Stockinger and Krysta Lee/Katherine Harris teamed up to both claim their first doubles victory of the season.

Lee won flight one, Royer flight two, Sammis flight three, Schmulbach flight four, Harris flight five and Stockinger flight six.  Five of the six players are now above .500 since the start of spring play, while Schmulbach remains undefeated at 2-0.

North Texas will wrap up this week’s play tomorrow at Texas-San Antonio.  Sunday’s match is set to get under way at 9 a.m.
