DENTON, Texas (2/5/10) - North Texas Tennis returns home to the Waranch Tennis Complex Saturday at Noon to take on No. 73 Texas Tech with a chance of redemption.
The Mean Green (2-2), plagued with sickness, fell last year in Lubbock to the Red Raiders (3-0) 6-1.
North Texas is coming off of a tough 7-0 loss at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners in which it fell behind early and were never able to right the ship completely.
"The key is to have the right energy from the beginning and to deal positively with the adversities that come along in a match," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We've learned a great deal from our previous match against OU and the ladies are excited to have the opportunity to improve from the lessons. There is nothing like playing at home in front of our fans."
The match with Texas Tech on Saturday is the first of five straight matches, and six of the next seven against ranked opponents. The only non-ranked opponent during the stretch is the Big 12 Conference's Kansas State.
"We are going to have more opportunities down the road," Lama said. "We have to play inspired and find ways to win."
North Texas Tennis is offering free pizza to the fans that come out and support the Mean Green on Saturday. As always admission is free, and pizza will be available while supplies last.
The Mean Green will get two weeks to prepare for a road trip to Mobile, Ala., where it will face-off with No. 28 Florida International and No. 75 South Alabama.
