Tennis Set For Mid-Week Showdown At Oklahoma
DENTON, Texas - Coming off an impressive 7-0 win over UTSA on Sunday, Mean Green Tennis is set to make the short trip to Norman, Okla., to face-off with the Oklahoma Sooners Wednesday at 3 p.m.
North Texas (2-1) enters the match 3-10 all-time versus the Sooners (2-0), with the last match coming in 1994. The two teams have changed dramatically since then, both with new head coaches and much stronger programs.
"Our focus the last couple of weeks has been to be totally engaged in the competition, have tremendous energy/enthusiasm and work on executing under pressure," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We will take that same approach to our match against Oklahoma."

Oklahoma will be the first of two straight Big 12 Conference opponents for North Texas, a run that represents a huge opportunity for a young Mean Green team.
The Sooners, under second year head coach David Mullins, have been on the rise. They took out UALR and Oral Roberts in their first weekend of play, totaling a perfect 14-0 in match points.
"I know David from my times in the Big Ten," said Lama. "He is a very good coach who will have his team well prepared. We are excited to play OU in their brand new indoor tennis center. It should be an exciting college tennis match."
The match will take place at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
Following the match, the Mean Green will return to Denton to prepare for No. 74 Texas Tech on Saturday at noon at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
