BERKELEY, Calif. - North Texas tennis was forced to cancel its match with No. 51 TCU on Sunday due to poor weather conditions in California.
The 60th ranked Mean Green were leading the match 2-1 before rain and bad weather hit the Berkeley area on Saturday afternoon.
"We are extremely disappointed that we could not complete the match," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We had battled hard and put our self in a great position to pull out a win."
Originally scheduled to restart the match Sunday morning, the rain returned, ultimately forcing North Texas and the Horned Frogs to abandon the match and return to Texas.
"Playing this tournament was a positive experience for our team," Lama added. "It gives us tremendous motivation to work hard because we continue seeing growth with each match."
The match, the second for each school in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, will be rescheduled in the coming weeks and is tentatively set to take place at the Waranch Tennis Complex in Denton.
