Tennis Moves Indoors Sunday To Take On UTSA
DENTON, Texas - North Texas Tennis is set once again to take the court, this time against UT - San Antonio, on Sunday at noon at Las Colinas Country Club.
The Mean Green (1-1) are coming off a Florida road trip where they split their two matches, defeating Jacksonville University, 7-0, and falling to the No. 8 Florida Gators 7-0.
"We've worked on fitness and movement after our trip to Florida," said head coach Sujay Lama. "I like the intensity and focus of our team. The key is to capitalize in the positive momentum we have built and improve with each match. We are looking forward to playing UTSA. Erin always has her team well prepared. We need to be ready for a tough match."
Week Two Notes
The Road Runners (0-0) are making their first appearance of the season. With six freshman and two sophomores on the roster, UTSA is a very young team and will be looking to extend their all-time series record, which currently stands at 13-4. North Texas won last year's meeting 5-2.
The Mean Green is looking to build momentum before they start a brutal stretch of matches, which begins Wednesday Feb. 3 in Norman, Okla., against the University of Oklahoma.
Six of the eight matches following the OU match are against currently ranked opponents, five of which are on the road.
North Texas will be playing indoors at Las Colinas Country Club instead of its normal home of the Waranch Tennis Complex due to weather concerns.
