DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis will cap off its fall tournament season starting Saturday as the Mean Green travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., for the Florida Gulf Coast Hilton Garden Inn Invite, which will run through Monday, Jan. 17.
"We are very excited for this final tournament before we get our spring season underway," said head coach Sujay Lama. "This tournament will give us the opportunity to get some match play in and take the rust off. The competition is going to be strong and we should get lots of great matches in to prepare us for our matches next weekend."
The FGCU Hilton Garden Inn Invite will feature five ranked teams, No. 25 Illinois, No. 28 South Florida, No. 50 Purdue, No. 70 North Florida and then of course, No. 66 North Texas. Other schools in attendance will be Akron, Stetson, Louisville and Florida Gulf Coast.
Saturday's matches will mark the first appearance of the Mean Green's newest addition, Isabel Bos. Bos, a mid-season addition for North Texas, will play the first collegiate match of her career after arriving from The Netherlands a little over a week ago.
The Mean Green will begin the dual match season next weekend, Jan. 22 and 23, at No. 22 Arkansas and against No. 59 Oklahoma State.
