NT Set to Finish Tournament Season in Florida

DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis hits the road Saturday for its final tournament tune-up before the spring season at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla.

All eight student-athletes will see action for the first time this year, looking to expand on the program's best tournament season under head coach Sujay Lama.

"This tournament will give us the opportunity to get some rust off and get some matches in before we begin the dual season versus Lamar," said Lama. "We are also excited to have Irina back on the courts and playing the doubles event. It's important to get a good start to the season so that we can continue to build on the confidence we have from a great fall."

The Mean Green has assembled a 92-36 overall record through tournament play thus far with senior Nadia Lee and junior Barbora Vykydalova leading the way with 10 singles wins each.

Freshman Kseniya Bardabush has also been a large contributor to the North Texas success, winning the first six matches of her collegiate career and registering a 9-4 record in both singles and doubles for an overall record of 18-8.

Senior Irina Paraschiv will be making her 2011-12 debut after sitting out the fall semester due to injury.

The FGCU Invitational will feature players from Miami, North Florida, Wichita State, Iowa State, Northwestern State (La.), Stephen F. Austin, Florida Gulf Coast and Sun Belt Conference opponent Florida Atlantic.

Play begins with doubles matches each morning at 8 a.m., followed by singles competition.
