ATLANTA, Ga., (3/14/10)
- Mean Green Tennis overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Georgia State on Sunday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center 5-2.
North Texas (7-5) won five of the six singles matches en route to the victory over the Panthers (2-8).
"We showed toughness today and I am very encouraged to see us become a mentally tougher team," said head coach Sujay Lama. "The loss of the doubles point and not having one of our top players for singles did not take away our focus and confidence."
Sophomore Paula Dinuta, who recorded the Mean Green's lone point yesterday afternoon against No. 29 Georgia Tech, had another brilliant performance in the No. 3 singles slot. Dinuta turned in a 6-3, 6-2 straight sets victory over Georgia State's Tereza Lerova.
Playing her first match on No. 2 singles, freshman Barbora Vykydalova battled her way to a third set victory over the Panthers Kir Kemp, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
North Texas returns home for the first time since February 6th on Sunday March 21 at 11 a.m. when it will take on Lamar at the Waranch Tennis Complex. Admission is free of charge.
