Mean Green Fall To No. 29 Georgia Tech 6-1

ATLANTA, Ga. (3/13/10) - North Texas Tennis fell to No. 29 Georgia Tech 6-1 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon.

The Mean Green (6-5) started slow en route to dropping all three doubles matches and the doubles point.

"We played well today against a very good opponent," said head coach Sujay Lama. "I am pleased with how poised we were and how hard we battled. We will take a lot of positives from this match and get ready for a tough opponent tomorrow."

Sophomore Paula Dinuta was the lone member of North Texas to win a set, defeating Elizabeth Kilborn in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

"I played pretty well today," said Dinuta. "I stayed focused and relaxed the entire match and at the same time I played my game. I felt very good with all my shots especially my backhand."

Junior Madura Ranganathan lost a hard fought match to Georgia Tech's Irina Falconi 6-1, 6-0. Falconi is the No. 1 singles player in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association polls.

North Texas will look to rebound Sunday morning when it takes on Georgia State from the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
