Tennis Drops Match Against No. 22 Tulsa

LAS COLINAS, Texas (3/9/13) - The No. 54-ranked North Texas tennis team fell to No. 22 Tulsa, 4-1, on Saturday evening at the Las Colinas Country Club. North Texas moves to 7-4 on the season.

"We just could not apply enough pressure today," head coach Sujay Lama said. "It seemed like we were playing catch up all day long. That's what good teams do to you. We learn and move on."

The Golden Hurricanes jumped to an early 1-0 after winning the doubles point.

No. 59 nationally ranked Samantha Vickers defeated Ksenyia Bardabush at the No. 1 singles position in straight sets, 6-2; 6-3, to add to Tulsa's lead.

Barbora Vykydalova won the lone point for North Texas defeating Isaura Enrique, 6-2; 6-3, at the No. 2 singles slot.

Tulsa took the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches to clinch the match, 4-1.

"I expect a tough match tomorrow," Lama added. "We have to be focused and ready to go."

North Texas will take on Wichita State tomorrow, March 10, at 12 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
