Tennis Drops Tough Match To Miami (OH) 6-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mean Green tennis dropped its match Saturday afternoon against the Miami (OH) RedHawks 6-1 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Louisville.

"Our effort was as high as it could be today, but we were beaten by a solid team," said associate head coach Jeff Maren. "We had opportunities in doubles, but didn't put it together at the end.  The momentum was on Miami's side and they used it to their advantage in singles to win the match."

Doubles saw Miami (OH) (7-4) jump out to an early 1-0 lead after capturing two of the three matches.

Junior Irina Paraschiv and sophomore Barbora Vykydalova claimed the lone Mean Green (2-6) doubles victory when they fought through a tough match and defeated the No. 1 duo from the RedHawks 9-8 in a tiebreaker.

Paraschiv would then go on to win her singles match from the No. 1 slot in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 and extend her total record to 4-0 on the week after winning both her doubles and singles match against Utah State on Thursday.

Vykydalova was able to grab the first set against her opponent in the No. 3 singles spot, before dropping the next two sets and the match 4-6, 6-2, 1-0.

The Mean Green will continue its road trip when it takes on the University of Louisville on Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
