Mean Green Sweep Competition On Day Three Of Metroplex Mania
North Texas Has 15 Wins Through First Three Days
DALLAS -- On a day the Mean Green tennis team only competed in doubles at the Metroplex Mania, North Texas swept its doubles competition 3-0 Sunday afternoon at SMU.
The most exciting match Sunday was at number three, where Mean Green sophomores Ivana Babic and Haruka Sasaki were down 5-2 and facing match point but gritted out of their hole and stormed back to win 7-5 over the Panthers and conclude the doubles competition with a sweep.
"Haruka and I had really good chemistry today and we feel really good about coming back from facing match-point," Babic said. "All three courts today had good energy that I could feel and helped us have a good day."
On court one, freshman Nidhi Surapaneni was paired with junior Minying Liang. The two made quick work of their mixed Georgia State/SMU doubles team, defeating them 6-1 for the team's first win of the day.
With the three victories on Sunday, North Texas has now won 15 matches in total over the first three days of the Metroplex Mania and posted a .714 winning percentage at the event held on the SMU campus.
