TULSA, Okla. -The North Texas tennis team went 3-1 in double play and sophomore Agustina Valenzuela remains undefeated in singles play with a 2-0 record, finishing day two at the Tulsa Invitational.
“We had another solid day today,” said associate head coach Jeff Hammond. “The singles went long and the Mean Green fought hard. The players gave it their all and in most cases it paid off. The victories were earned today.”
In doubles play the duo’s of Agustina Valenzuela and Dane Joubert (7-5), along with Anastasiya Shestakova and Kamilla Galieva (6-3) picked up their second wins of the tournament against the University of Wyoming.
In singles play the Mean Green faced Old Dominion where Agustina Valenzuela picked up her second win of the day (0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (3)) and freshman Alexis Thoma won with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (12) match.
The third and final day of the invitational will begin at 9 a.m. with doubles tomorrow.
