Mean Green Conclude Fall Action At FAU Invite
Seniors Fuel North Texas Success
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Seniors headlined the North Texas swim team's performance in Wednesday's Florida Atlantic Invitational. Sarah Vaisse, Claudia Kitching and Isabelle Morris combined for four first-place finishes.
Vaisse was victorious in the 100-yard reverse IM with a time of 59.41, and Kitching posted a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.73. The duo began the day by swimming the opening legs of the 100-yard medley relay, helping the Mean Green to a third-place finish with a time of 50.09. Vaisse followed with a 30.23 in the 50-yard breaststroke, good for second. Kitching finished three-hundredths of a second behind her in third.
Morris took first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.22) and swam the second leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking a time of 1:38.29 for first place. Freshman Leigh Faires McGee, who swam the opening leg of the 200-free relay, was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.36.
Senior Brittany Thurstin showcased her versatility in the event, helping the 200-free relay team to a win, finishing second in the 400-yard IM relay and posting third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and butterfly.
Sophomore Jowita Sienczyk combined for four top-three finishes on Wednesday, including second-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard IM relay and third-place finishes in the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard reverse IM.
North Texas takes the next few weeks off for the holidays before resuming dual-meet action against Incarnate Word at 11 a.m. on Jan. 8.
