DENTON, Texas - The North Texas swimming and diving team just capped off an impressive fall season and start to the 2012-2013 year with a win in San Antonio at the UIW Invitational plus several new records and achievements for the program.
With the victory in San Antonio, NT now holds the top time in all five relay events in the Sun Belt Conference, an important fact to note as the SBC championships draw near.
The team also posted a 3.6 gpa for the fall semester, the highest ever in program history.
Along with winning the UIW Invitational (Rice, TCU, Missouri State and Incarnate Word), the Mean Green placed second at the Razorback Relays falling only to Arkansas and finishing ahead of SMU, Vanderbilt and Missouri State. NT is also 2-1 in dual meet play going into January.
Multiple North Texas swimmers also lead the SBC in seven different swims. Sophomore Krista Rossum leads the conference in the 50 free (23.21) and the 100 breast (1:01.66). Senior Catia Weickgenant leads in the 200 free (1:48.13) and the 500 free (4:48.13).
Sophomore Kimmy Phillips is also on top of the conference in the 1000 free (10:02.96) and the 1650 free (16:33.27) while sophomore Mona Groteguth is the Belt's leader in the 100 back (54.98).

The Mean Green looks to continue its run beginning at Puerto Rico in January against Youngstown State.
