Floyd Earns Sun Belt Swimmer Of The Week Honors

DENTON, Texas (11/12/08) - North Texas swimmer Emily Floyd was selected as the Sun Belt Women's Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday for her performance at the Mean Green Duals last weekend.

Floyd broke her own school record in the 1000 Freestyle as North Texas squared off against Arkansas, SMU, Colorado State, and New Mexico State. She set a new school record by over three seconds in the event with a time of 10:19.56. The previous record (10:22.74) she owned from last year against TCU. She also swam in the 500 Freestyle (5:08.13) at the MG Duals getting her second highest mark of the season.

The junior from Sugarland currently holds two other school records for individual events- 500 Freestyle (4:54.19) and 1650 Freestyle (17:07.27). Floyd is also part of two school record holding relay teams- 400 Freestyle (3:28.27) and 800 Freestyle (7:34.10). 

The next meet on the calendar for Mean Green swimming & diving is the Husker Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 20-23.
