DENTON - North Texas senior swimmer Krista Rossum recorded a league-best time of 2:04.37 in the 200 IM to help propel the Mean Green over defending conference champion Rice on Saturday. She was awarded for the first time in her career with Conference USA Swimmer of the Week honors.

Rossum now has three league-leading times to her credit. In the 200 and 400 IM, Rossum's top times are more than two seconds faster than the closest competitor, and her finish as a part of the 200 freestyle relay team is also a top conference time. In all, Rossum has five top-five conference times in four different individual events.

The senior was integral in picking up wins against Houston and Rice over the weekend, losing only to a top-ten Texas A&M squad. North Texas starts the season at 3-1 for the first time in the program's history.

This is the second conference Swimmer of the Week award in Rossum's career and her first in C-USA.

Rossum and the Mean Green take to the road for the Phill Hansel Invitational on Friday, Nov. 21, and the event will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 23.
