North Texas Travels To Texas A&M For Dual Meet
Mean Green Take On Nation's No. 16 Ranked Team
DENTON — After a week off from competition, the North Texas swimming and diving team returns to the pool this weekend, traveling to College Station for a dual meet against Texas A&M on Friday afternoon.
The meet kicks off a busy two-week stretch for the Mean Green that also includes road dual meets at Rice and Houston next weekend. In their first two dual meets of the season, North Texas went 1-1, defeating Incarnate Word, 167-76, and falling to Liberty, 140-102.
Sophomore Isabelle Morris won first place overall in the 200-yard freestyle, while junior Samantha Scheck won first place overall in the three-meter diving competition. The Mean Green also picked up eights wins against Incarnate Word and two more wins against Liberty.
Also on the boards, senior Jasmine Abercrombie looks to build on her Conference USA Diver of the Week performance against Incarnate Word and Liberty, in which she placed in the top three of both diving competitions, including a win over Liberty in the one-meter competition.
Texas A&M, coming off its third straight fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2014-15, opened the 2015-16 season this past week, rolling to a 179-121 road victory over SEC foe Kentucky. With their win over the Wildcats, the Aggies enter the weekend ranked No. 16 in the nation, according to College Swimming.
The meet begins at 3 p.m. from the Student Recreation Natatorium. It will be streamed live on SEC Network+ and live stats will also be available at 12thMan.com.
