Team White Edges Team Green In Annual Green-White Meet
Swimming & Diving Competes in Final Exhibition
DENTON - Team White defeated Team Green, 147.5-137.5, as the North Texas swimming & diving team competed in their annual Green vs. White intrasquad meet on Saturday morning. Jowita Sienczyk and Isabelle Morris led the way, accounting for 22 points on their respective teams.
"I love to have this meet right before we begin the regular season, because our girls get a chance to shake off some of that rust and put together some race plans," Mean Green head coach Brittany Roth said.
After swimming the first leg of Team Green's win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.62) to begin the meet, Sienczyk took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.54. Sienczyk was also victorious in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 2:08.99.
Morris dominated in the freestyle events, claiming the 200-yard (1:57.77) and 100-yard (53.73) events, and she led Team Green to a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.87.
On the boards, freshman Meghan Miller took the top spot in both the one-meter (211.20) and three-meter (222.83) dives.
"Meghan came on the scene ready to learn and ready to get anything from her teammates," diving coach Mark Murdock said. "She was trying to feed off of that and she was really focused. She did a good job today."
North Texas begins its regular season in a road dual meet against Little Rock on Oct. 14.
