North Texas Relays
North Texas will host the 2010 North Texas Relays in Mansfield, Texas, as they take on teams from Arkansas, TCU, Tulane and SMU in what will be the curtain-raiser for the 2010-11 swimming season. North Texas is coming off their best dual meet record in school history, posting a 9-5 record in 2009-10, and matched their best finish at the Sun Belt Championships, finishing third.
Dual Meet vs. Arkansas, Tulane
The Dual Meet vs. Arkansas and Tulane will commence Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the PEB with the diving portion of the competition. The Dual Meet against the Razorbacks & Green Wave will continue Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the Pohl Recreation Center.
North Texas in the NT Relays
In the fourth year of this event, North Texas has finished in 2nd out of 3 teams (2007), 4th out of 5 teams (2008), and last year placed 3rd out of 4 teams.
North Texas vs. Arkansas
North Texas is 0-6 in the series against Arkansas, which dates back to 1998, the first year of the program. Arkansas, who finished last season ranked 20th, won the meeting last season in Fayetteville, 192-106
North Texas vs. Tulane
North Texas trails the all-time series against Tulane 1-2, but won a 173-118 decision last season in Denton. The schools also met in 2003-04 and 2004-05
Green & White Meet Recap
Hiliary Riedmann topped two of her best marks from last season with a 1:55.55 to win the 200 yard freestyle and a 53.80 to win the 100 yard freestyle. Carleigh Kutac bested her mark from last year with a 2:11.02 to win the 200 yard backstroke.
Freshman Natalie Jakopin won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.37. Sophomore transfer Joanna Wozniak won the 200 yard breaststroke for with a time of 2:28.19.
North Texas has won seven of its last nine dual meets entering this season. In the final dual meet of 2009-10, they dropped a decision to powerhouse Texas A&M, and they dropped a meet to Arkansas The nine meet stretch is the best in North Texas’ program history.
North Texas had a program-record 29 All-Conference selections in 2010, shattering the previous mark of 16 from 2008.
