Swimming & Diving Prepares For North Texas Relays
Team Will Face Familiar Foes In SMU And Tulane
DENTON — The North Texas Swimming & Diving team will be back in action later this week when it competes in the North Texas Relays. The event will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, at the Southlake-Carroll ISD Natatorium.
The contest pits North Texas against Southern Methodist University and Tulane as they compete in ten separate relay events. Friday's contest will also be the first opportunity to get a look at this year's Mean Green Diving squad as it competes in the one- and three-meter diving events.
After a strong showing in its season-opening exhibition, coach Brendon Bray thinks this weekend's event will give fans a look at those that didn't have the chance to showcase their skills in the short-distance pentathlon.
"I'm excited to see our divers and distance swimmers compete in events that they specialize in for the first time this season," Bray said.
This is not the first time that the Mean Green will face off against this weekend's competition. The team defeated SMU in last year's North Texas Relays before falling to the the Mustangs in a dual matchup. Additionally, North Texas picked up its only dual wins of last season in two meets against Tulane.
North Texas took second place in last season's North Texas Relays as it outperformed SMU and Houston while falling to Arkansas.
