Swimming Hosts Green & White, Alumnae Meets

DENTON, Texas- North Texas Swimming & Diving team kicks off their season on Friday, September, 23rd with their annual Green &White Meet, starting at 4 p.m. in the Pohl Recreation Center. Swimming returns to action on Saturday, September 24th as they host the Alumnae Meet at 1 p.m.

Times from the Green & White Meet are official NCAA and USA Swimming times, and can be used to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The event marks the debut of several North Texas freshman swimmers, and sees the return of Catia Weickgenant, Hiliary Reidmann, Delia Covo and Catherine Johnson, all of whom won individual medals at the 2011 Sun Belt Championships. In addition, all four legs of the 200 yard freestyle relay and 200 yard medley relay return after taking home podium finishes in Rockwall.

At the alumnae meet, former Mean Green Swimmers and Divers compete against current student-athletes and hang out to celebrate the start of the 2011-12 season, before a luncheon and the football game later that night against Indiana.

The Mean Green finished third in the Sun Belt last year and aim to better that finish at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championship in Rockwall, Texas, February 22nd through the 25th.
