DENTON, Texas - The North Texas swimming and diving team has announced its 2010-11 schedule. The Mean Green will look to build off its successful 2009-10 campaign with 11 intercollegiate meets, one intrasquad meet and the annual alumni meet. Four meets will be held on the North Texas campus in Denton, six overall meets will take place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and nine of the squad's 11 meets will occur in the state of Texas.
The 2010-11 campaign will get underway with the Green and White Meet on Friday, October 1 at 4:00 p.m. and be followed by the Alumni Meet on Saturday, October 2 at 11 a.m.
The fourth annual North Texas Relays will take place on Friday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Mansfield. This year's competitors include SMU, TCU, Arkansas, Tulane and Incarnate Word. The following morning, North Texas will host Arkansas and Tulane in a double-dual meet at 9:00 a.m. in Denton.
North Texas will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for its first outdoor meet of the season against New Mexico State and Boise State on October 22 and 23. The Mean Green will return home on November 5 to again face SMU at 6:00 p.m.
The Mean Green will again take part in the Texas Invitational from December 2-4 in Austin on the campus of the University of Texas. North Texas will follow that with its only cross-country trip to Fort Meyers, Fla., for a dual meet with Florida Gulf Coast at 11 a.m on December 18.
NT will ring in the new year by hosting Texas A&M on January 7 at 4:00 p.m. in Denton. North Texas will visit Houston for a weekend of dual meets with Rice (January 14, 4:00 p.m.) and Houston (January 15, 11:00 a.m).
The final tune-up for the conference meet will be a dual meet with TCU in Denton, tentatively set for January 28.
The Sun Belt Conference Championships will be held in nearby Rockwall for the first time. They will take place February 23-26.
