A middle-distance swimmer, McGee holds four Mississippi state records. She set the 50- and 100-meter freestyle records as a junior and the 100- and 200-yard freestyle records as a senior.

“I am thrilled to have Leigh Faires McGee join the Mean Green swimming and diving family,” Roth said. “Leigh Faires has shown herself to be an up and coming force out of Mississippi. She comes from a proven club with caring coaches at the Makos, and the integrity and work ethic she demonstrates in and out of the water will be invaluable assets to our program as we look to the future. I can't wait to have her join us on campus.”
