Roth Adds Two During Late Signing Period
One Swimmer, One Diver Sign With North Texas
DENTON – North Texas head swimming and diving coach Brittany Roth announced the signing of one diver and one swimmer during the late signing period. The group includes Leigh Faires McGee and Meghan Miller.
Leigh Faires McGee; Jackson, Mississippi; Mid-Distance Freestyle
A middle-distance swimmer, McGee holds four Mississippi state records. She set the 50- and 100-meter freestyle records as a junior and the 100- and 200-yard freestyle records as a senior.
“I am thrilled to have Leigh Faires McGee join the Mean Green swimming and diving family,” Roth said. “Leigh Faires has shown herself to be an up and coming force out of Mississippi. She comes from a proven club with caring coaches at the Makos, and the integrity and work ethic she demonstrates in and out of the water will be invaluable assets to our program as we look to the future. I can't wait to have her join us on campus.”
McGee, who competed with the Mississippi Makos in the club scene, sits atop the record book in the 500, 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle for the Makos. She competed under head coach Brian Ware.
She was named the Most Outstanding female swimmer in Mississippi as a junior and senior and was a scholastic All-American as a junior.
McGee will arrive at North Texas in the fall of 2017.
Meghan Miller; Woodbury, Minnesota; Diving
A diver, Miller brings an impressive track record to North Texas. She was named an All-American as a junior, and received consideration as a sophomore and senior. Additionally, she holds six pool records in the Twin Cities area.
“We are very excited to have Meghan join our program,” diving coach Mark Murdock said. “She is focused and well driven to perfect all the she can to reach her full potential. Meghan will add experience and mental toughness to our dive team.”
The 5-foot-10 diver garnered Section 3AA Diver of the Year honors her last three seasons, and is the Woodbury High School record holder in both the six and 11 dive events.
She secured a first-place finish as a sophomore, junior and senior in the Section 3AA diving meet, and went on to finish sixth in the state meet as a sophomore, third as a junior and sixth in her senior campaign.
She competed under Sherry Gross at WHS and for the Minnesota Diving Academy in the club scene.
Miller will also begin her time in Denton in the fall of 2017.
