DENTON, Texas (3/30/06) For a second straight semester, the North Texas swimming and diving squad was named an Academic All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The CSCAA recognizes the top NCAA Division-I women’s programs with the highest team grade point averages from the previous semester. The Mean Green was selected to the honor after boasting a team GPA of 2.95.
North Texas, the only Sun Belt Conference school on the list, is joined by Metroplex rivals Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University. Eastern Michigan topped the charts with an overall GPA of 3.56.
Last semester, the Mean Green ranked 46th in the country with a GPA of 3.17. The team consistently ranks among the highest cumulative team GPA of any sport at North Texas.
