DENTON, Texas- In the final mid-major poll of the season, North Texas is perched as the top Sun Belt Conference team edging out Denver for ninth place (CollegeSwimming.com). This accomplishment is a first for the Mean Green program.
North Texas's final score of 255.32 tops Denver's 253.96 points (10th), Western Kentucky's 251.29 (17th), and FIU's 246.41 (23rd).
The Mean Green were ranked as high as seventh place this season, a program best.
Now in its 10th year, the Mid-Major Rankings serve to provide an objective point system to compare teams' relative strength in a traditional dual meet lineup. The ranking is available to those institutions that a) are not members of a BCS conference or Mountain West Conference, or b) provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules.
