HOUSTON - North Texas swimming and diving sent three divers to the NCAA Zone D Championships in Houston, which runs from Monday through Wednesday.
Day one saw junior Catherine Johnson place 26th out of the 46 best divers in the region while junior Rebecca Taylor put together an outstanding 12th place finish in the preliminaries/quarterfinals.
Taylor's 12th place finish nabbed her a spot in the 3-meter finals, and, in doing so, she became the first NT diver to reach a zone meet final, where she came in 15th.
Senior captain Delia Covo was a scratch due to illness.
The championships feature a different dive each day, which began with the 3-meter on Monday, and have a preliminary/quarterfinal round prior to the actual championship round.
Taylor and Covo have qualified for zones once before in their respective careers while Johnson is going on her third qualification in as many years.
The results can be found and followed live at THIS LINK.
The action continues tomorrow in the 1-meter for the women.
